recently was just flat. It was the first virginia I tried several
years ago and it was the benchmark for the others I tried later but
there are several I like better now.

2006. Tho the oldest samplings were held for 3 years instead of the
5 you mention, I did note that there was a noticable difference
between the 3 year old sample held under vacuum and that held with no
vacuum. I felt that overall the vacuum held sample was more rich and
mellow, and there was a smoothness and depth of flavor change that did
not develop as much as in the similarly aged sample without
vacuum. Although there is no way I could compare them, I believe
that a (Virginia) blend tinned and held would have more change
than the same blend in bulk held in a sealed jar for the same period
of time, whether it was held with vacuum or with no vacuum.

think, because the Perique will continue to ferment and change more
than other types of tobacco. I saw this in the PCCA blends,
particularly the Beacon, we reviewed more recently. I have
also experienced it in very old tinned tobaccos in which the
Perique took on a completely different character (and a nice
character, at that).
