Why would anyone want to cut up a good cigar and put it in a pipe?

Hi all. Has anyone ever tried cutting a cigar like one does a rope??? Just really curious. I often enjoy a nice Cuban and have a nice selection of them in my humidor. I also believe that a cigar is a cigar, a pipe is a pipe and a cigarette is shit ( pardon my afrikaans LOL ) and the three are very different. I am just very curoius
