Depending on the length, you can use a drill bit that is slightly less than the diameter of the draught hole in the shank.  Carefully insert it into the draught hole so that it is aligned, and slowly extend it through.  As long as you're not shaving wood off the bore, you should be able to clear the clog.  I  put a drill into a spare chuck I have and do this by hand.  Pull the drill out periodically to make sure you are not gouging the briar.
