Back in the late 1990s, when I found the pipe hobby on the internet, I had never heard of Castello pipes. My new pipe friends on #pipes introduced me to the brand and I bought my first one at the Chicago Pipe Show in 1998 - the first show I had ever attended. From there, I learned about the various styles and continued to add them to my evolving collection. Over the years, it is the one brand that has been most consistent in delivering a good smoke, and they're not bad to own, either. I think I have about 20 of them, mostly larger sizes. I had never cared that much about the Epoca finish until they discontinued it a few years ago, and I decided I wanted to add one to my collection. This one is the rock finish carving, one of the earlier styles of carving, and I got it from Chuck Rio, who many consider "Mr. Castello", myself included. Over the past couple of years I've added two more, each at the MAPS show, in the drip-wax carving. I

I'm smoking Aurora in one of my Castello Epocas. I chose the tobacco
because I'm working my way through a tin before my re-supply arrives from
PCCA.. The last 1/3 of the tin is just the right level of moisture for me, so
I want to finish it before it gets too dry.

I check this site all day for new posts and am disappointed with the very few
posts. I think its less than 10 a day. Why dont we all check in just to say hi
and what we are smoking and maybe why we chose that blend for that time of the
day etc etc. Well Pipestud does not have to report to us what he smokes every
morning with his coffee LOL.
Just an idea cause this is an international pipe club where we all sit around
with like minded people and enjoying a bowl of something very nice.
